Valley Medical and Wellness is delighted to welcome to the team its new Psych Nurse Practitioner Rosemary James.
Rosemary previously worked as an RN for over nine years in various hospitals in Minnesota but decided to pursue a career as a mental health practitioner after witnessing the negative impacts of COVID on her personal and professional community. She began researching depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and Alcohol Use Disorder, and followed these interests to Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa where she earned her Masters Degree in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing. While in school, she also volunteered at church to help create awareness about mental health.
After graduating, Rosemary worked for Abbott Northwestern Hospital in an inpatient mental health Unit for both adults and adolescents.
And she’s thrilled to now be working with patients at Valley Medical and Wellness who have Substance and Opioid Use Disorder and will be evaluating all potential clients for our new Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Therapy program to determine if that treatment is right for them. Rosemary has previous experience working with TMS technology during her clinical rotations in graduate school and also attended an intense three-day training at the PULSE TMS conference this past September in Providence, Rhode Island.
Outside of work, Rosemary is a busy mother to three beautiful girls aged 9, 7, and 5, and she still enjoys volunteering at church on the weekends. In the summer, she enjoys gardening, grows her own vegetables, and also loves to travel with her daughters. She hopes to be able to travel more internationally now that they’re getting older.
Please help us welcome Rosemary if you see her around the office. We are so excited to have her expertise in Mental Health Nursing here at Valley Medical and Wellness.
