Valley Medical Laboratory Enables Trauma-Informed Care for Roots Wellness Center

Valley Medical Laboratory is committed to supporting addiction treatment centers in providing trauma-informed care for their clients. Valley Medical’s vTOX® DNA-verified urine drug testing eliminates the need for viewed urine collection, providing a safer environment for treatment center clients.

Individuals suffering from past trauma or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can feel stressed if they’re forced to provide urine samples while under visual supervision. This can cause re-traumatization or introduce new trauma.

By eliminating the need for viewed urine collection, vTOX® makes the collection area a safe space free from the presence of others—while providing DNA highly accurate verification of each sample. This enhances the client’s physical and psychological safety and reinforces the facility’s commitment to trauma-informed care.

Roots Wellness Center, located in St. Paul, Minnesota, is a strong proponent of trauma-influenced care. Roots focuses on treating those with marginalized identities, including LGBTQIA+ individuals, people of color, low-income and impoverished individuals, individuals on probation, and other often-disenfranchised communities. By using Valley Medical’s vTOX to eliminate the need for viewed urine collection, Roots better serves its most vulnerable clients.

Valley Medical is proud to partner with Roots in providing vTOX® urine drug testing for trauma-informed care. Roots’ clients get a trauma-free collection experience while Roots staff are ensured of valid urine samples with no possibility of urine tampering.
